Awami League Secretary General Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday that the BNP never taking any political program for the welfare of the people of the country, it has now become an aimless, ineffective and failed political party, reports BSS.

“People do not support any statement of the BNP. The real objective of the BNP is to illegally seize power by means. The policy of seizing power is more important to the BNP than the well-being of the people of the country “, he said in a statement.

Quader, also Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, said the people of the country are tired of hearing unrealistic statements and lies from BNP leaders, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Without respecting democratic standards, the BNP leaders only want to implement a far-sighted political program with lip service, he said.

AL secretary general said Mirza Fakhrul was today trying to urge the nation by talking about autocracy, but BNP founder Ziaur Rahman who illegally seized state power was the father of the dictatorship in Bangladesh.

Dictator Ziaur Rahman supported the assassins of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four national leaders, he said, adding that Zia established the anti-liberation forces – razakar-al-badr and war criminals in the politics of independent Bangladesh.

Quader said Zia formed a political party named BNP involving the non-party and depraved leaders in exchange for money.

The word autocracy does not fit in the mouth of those who established military rule by killing the country’s constitution and democracy, he said.

The road transport minister said that the BNP is the symbol of autocracy and the main patron of killers, war criminals, corruption, terrorism and militancy.

The story of the BNP is the story of autocracy, illegal seizure of power, murderous conspiracy, condescension of war criminals and grenade attacks, militancy and terrorism, corruption and the establishment of the reign of terror, he said.

Quader said the AL traditionally practices politics according to democratic norms and ideology, while the primary goal of the AL and its chairman Sheikh Hasina is the welfare of the country’s people.

The AL never believes in the oppression of opposing thoughts, he said, but thousands of AL men have been suppressed and killed by the BNP-Jamaat people.

The AL secretary general said that each time the BNP took power, it launched the steamrollers of oppression on the oppositions and wanted to eliminate them.

Following in the footsteps of military dictator Ziaur Rahman, the BNP, led by Khaleda Zia, set a horrific example by carrying out the torture and oppression of AL and minority leaders and activists during his regimes – 1991-96 and 2001-06, he said.
