Former New York presidential and mayoral candidate Andrew Yang is expected to launch a third party next month, according to two people familiar with the matter. Yang is expected to start the party at the same time as the October 5 release of his new book, “Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy.”
It’s unclear what the name of Yang’s third party will be or how he plans to roll it out in 2022 or 2024. But the book’s publisher, Crown, has given some clues as to what kind of platform Yang might pursue. He writes that the book is an indictment of America’s “era of institutional failure” and will introduce us to “America’s various” priests of decline, “including politicians whose motives have been separated from the people they are supposed to serve. “
A former businessman, Yang has surprised many in the political world with creative and outward-looking campaigns for both the president and mayor. His presidential campaign lasted and raised more money than those of much more seasoned politicians. But, ultimately, that didn’t translate into votes as he dropped out shortly after the New Hampshire primary and passed out in the polls at the end of the mayoral race.
I just want to say something to Andrew Yang:
“Goodbye, bitch. “

He ran primarily on the idea of a universal basic income, which would see the government giving citizens a monthly check for $ 1,000. It was an original policy proposition that did not fit perfectly with the ideological prism of either party, and won Yang converts among many apolitical figures online and in the media – some of whom spoke out. nicknamed the “Gang Yang”.
I love that Andrew Yang brought the universal basic income into the national discourse.
But the guy never held an elected post because he lost two elections in two years.
On what planet does that make him qualified to create a third party?
